How to clean & condition leather furniture for routine maintenance
Step by Step
First, always follow the manufacturer's instructions. You don’t want to void any warranty.
Dry dust your leather furniture weekly. When more cleaning is needed use a slightly damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the leather using 1 part vinegar 3 parts water. Be careful not to over saturate the leather. Dry the leather immediately with another clean dry cloth to avoid any mildew.
If you have oily or set in stains don’t scrub on the leather. Vigorous scrubbing may remove the protective top finish or the color. If you see the color coming off stop immediately and call a professional.
Use a leather conditioning cream with a new clean dry microfiber cloth to help keep the leather moisturized, soft and supple. Less is better. Always do a test area on the underside of a cushion that is not noticeable. This way you can prevent using a product that may discolor leather.
This process is for regular maintenance. If you have set in stains, discolored or oily areas. Call the leather furniture cleaning experts at Leather Pros Inc. We use the right product and processes for your type of leather.
PRO TIPS
Don’t place your leather furniture in direct sunlight. The leather will fade, dry out and may crack over time.
When placing leather furniture in a room don’t place it near a heat source like a register vent, wood stove or fireplace. Over time these heat sources can dry out the leather.
